These findings could help develop items that better detect harmful engagement and irrational thinking styles among skill-based gamblers.
It appears that online poker is a different game than other forms of online gambling, and it requires specific mental skills. Future studies should consider a crossed perspective, mixing skills, self-regulation, and psychopathology of poker players. In addition, the validity of tools used to measure excessive gambling and irrational beliefs should be tested in this population.
